Abu Dhabi: Three Emiratis died in a car crash on Delma Island in Abu Dhabi on Thursday, police said on Friday on their Twitter account.

The men died on the spot when their car crashed into a lamppost. A fourth person who was travelling with them survived with moderate injuries.

In an accident involving two vehicles in Ras Al Khaimah on Thursday night, two people died and four others were injured, police said.

Brigadier Dr Mohammad Saeed Al Hamidi, director-general of the General Directorate of Central Operations at Ras Al Khaimah Police, said, “The 46-year-old driver of the first car and one of his passengers, aged 32, died on the spot, while two other Asians travelling in the same car sustained minor to medium injuries. The 21-year-old driver of the second car, and his 39-year-old passenger, both Emiratis, received moderate injuries.”

The injured men were taken to the hospital.

The police control room received a call at 11.30pm on Thursday reporting the incident.

Police said the drivers of the two cars entered the new ring road which is still under construction despite a signboard warning users about the road condition.

Brig Al Hamidi appealed to drivers to take precautions, especially in areas where construction is ongoing.

He urged drivers to reduce speed and follow traffic rules.
