Abu Dhabi: UAE martyrs who sacrificed their tomorrow in Yemen striving to fight for peace, prosperity and security will eternally remain the nation’s role models and true icons of nationalism, a martyr’s mother said.
Gulf News spoke to Mahra Abdul Rahman Al Ahbabi, the mother of the martyr Butti Ayel Mesfer Al Ahbabi, who sacrificed his life in Yemen.
“The 33-year-old’s courage, braveness and dedication were always strongly exhibited in whatever he did. He was truly a loving, candid and generous individual who always lent others a hand when they needed one, without expecting anything in return.”
‘Left a stamp’
“He always had deep respect and appreciation for people who were achievers. He always talked to me about some of the achievers who he used to look up to. Today, people are looking up to him. He left a stamp on the world history. We couldn’t be more proud of him.”
Highlighting the importance of being loyal to one’s country and the significance of always giving, without expecting anything in return, was some of the advice Mahra said is crucial when parents are raising their children.
“These were some of the principles I personally focused on and made sure were instilled in my children as I continued to raise them.
“I believe Butti’s achievement truly encapsulates these two aspects, loyalty and kindness.
“Butti, up until today, is always in our prayers and always in our thoughts. We have lost a great hero; however, he is in a much better place. He died fighting for his country. He died as a martyr. May he land in paradise.”
Mahra also seized this opportunity to offer her deepest condolences to all the families and mothers for losing their sons.
“I would also like to express my deepest respect and appreciation to my country’s leadership, all of whom were with us along every step of the way and provided us with all the support and love that we needed during this demise.”
“Butti and all the other martyrs who died in Yemen have made us all exceptionally proud.
“Their strength, dedication and commitment prove to the whole world that the UAE is a nation of a wealth of heroes and idols. I would like to ask everyone to always keep them in their prayers. That is the least we can do for these martyrs who truly presented us in the best way possible.”
