Sharjah Media Corporation completes Urdu interpretation of the Holy Quran

The interpretation of the Quran in Urdu was completed on the TV programme on June 10 this year

Dubai: The 17-year project of Quran TV interpretation in Urdu has been completed, according to an announcement by the Sharjah Media Corporation (SMC).

The programme which was inspired by the thought of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, was broadcast for over 17 years.

The programme was aired on the ‘Special Services SMC’ channel which broadcasts an exclusive set of programmes that focus on spreading Islamic values and the UAE culture in English, Urdu and Persian.

Shaikh Sultan Bin Ahmad Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Media Corporation, said that over the last 17 years, the “Interpretation of the Quran” TV programme has succeeded in building a large fan base as it is an ideal platform for spreading the true message of the Quran in Urdu.

The TV programme which targets Urdu speakers, educates the largest number of Muslim non-Arabic speakers by introducing them to their religion and teachings. The first episode of the “Interpretation of the Quran” TV programme was launched in 1996 and the interpretation of the Quran in Urdu was completed on June 10.

Khalid Omar Al Midfa, Director General of Sharjah Media Corporation, also highlighted that the success of the “Interpretation of the Quran” TV programme across 2,815 episodes represents a major addition to the programmes of the ‘Special Services SMC.’
