Sharjah: The Sharjah Art Foundation (SAF) has announced that the Sharjah Biennial 12 will take place from March 5 to June 5, 2015 at the city’s art area.
The biennial, which will be held under the slogan ‘The past, the present, the possible’, will invite more than 50 artists and cultural experts from over 25 countries to participate in the event by introducing their ideas through their art work. Curated by Eungie Joo, the event will focus on the relevance of contemporary art and the potential of artistic positions to imagine something beyond current states of social and political confinement.
The opening events are set to take place on March 5-8, while SAF’s annual programme, March Meeting 2015, will take place in mid-May. Since 1993, Sharjah Biennial has produced and presented large-scale public installations, performances and films, offering artists from the region and around the world an internationally recognised platform for exhibition and experimentation.
