Sharjah: Excited schoolchildren have started browsing countless books at the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival at Expo Centre.

The 11-day event has been opened by His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, who is touring the festival stands.

Earlier he honoured winners of the festival awards for notable works and professionals in children’s literature.

Besides book stalls, there are around 2,100 activities on offer, including a cultural cafe and cookery corner.

A main attraction this year is the exhibition called Brain: The Inside Story, which takes visitors on an interactive multimedia tour of the marvels of the human mind.

Entry to the festival is open to all and free of charge.
