Dubai: UAE residents as well as visitors who don’t own a PO Box number can now have mail posted to them through a new Public Post Box service of Emirates Post Group (EPG).
The service is for those who don’t own a PO Box address of their own but would like to have a postal number for receiving mail. It is mainly targeted at temporary residents such as visit visa holders, people who do not want to use their office addresses for privacy reasons, sailors and others who need to have an address in the UAE.
The unique facility allows people to use a common PO Box number for receiving mail and collecting it at the postal counters for a nominal fee. The charges for the service range from 50 fils to Dh3 per piece, depending on the type of mail and its weight.
The Public Post Box service is offered at all post offices across the country and each location has been assigned an easy-to-remember PO Box number.
It allows people to give out these PO Box numbers to their friends and relatives. When a person expects mail, he or she can go to the registered mail counter at the respective post offices and ask the attendant to check if there is mail for him or her, which they can then collect after paying the specified fee.
EPG’s chief commercial officer Ebrahim Bin Karam said: “The Public Post Box is yet another innovative and community-oriented service from Emirates Post, aimed at fulfilling the long-felt need for providing a UAE address to people who cannot own individual mailboxes. For a small fee, they can have a mailing address in the UAE.”
