Prayers mark the beginning of Eid Al Adha in UAE
By Shafaat Shahbandari, Staff Reporter
Dubai: Thousands of believers gathered at mosques and Eid prayer grounds across the country at sunrise, marking the beginning of Eid Al Adha, the festival of sacrifice.
The four-day festival is the second among the two major Muslim religious celebrations, which marks the completion of the annual Haj pilgrimage.
In their Eid sermons, following Eid prayers, preachers across the mosques addressed the devotees on the significance of sacrifice.
Following the prayers, thousands could be seen greeting fellow worshippers as well as relatives and friends, with a customary hug and handshake, outside the mosques and Eid prayer grounds.
