Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Police rescued a young Emirati who attempted to jump from the Shaikh Zayed Bridge in the capital on Monday morning.

The police officers talked to the young man, aged 22, and persuaded him not to commit suicide.

The police said preliminary investigations showed that the person was in an abnormal mental condition, which led him to climb the bridge.

He has been sent to the nearest police station to take necessary action in such cases.

During the rescue operation, the Abu Dhabi traffic police closed the roads leading to the bridge this morning.
