Pakistani national wins 1 kilo of gold after shopping in Dubai

Dubai: A Pakistani national who went on holiday in Dubai got lucky after he bagged a kilo of gold during a raffle draw.

Syed Sarwar Hasan has just been declared winner of the jackpot prize in Deira City Centre’s Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) promotion.

Sarwar was among the hundreds of shoppers who earned a raffle ticket for a chance to win a kilo of gold (photographed below) in exchange for a minimum spend of Dh200 during the annual summer shopping festival.

The six-week long DSS ended last August 4, but the name of the winner was announced only on Tuesday, just as Pakistanis celebrated their country’s 71st Independence Day.

The value of the gold was pegged at Dh145,000.

Organisers of the raffle were unable to share more details of the winner or the raffle draw, except that the lucky Pakistani was a tourist.
