Home-owners in Abu Dhabi are not allowed to stop motorists parking in front of their homes

Abu Dhabi: Residents who want to avoid a Dh1,000 fine will have to look for more official ways to prevent unwarranted cars from parking in front of their homes.
Abu Dhabi Municipality has announced that residents are no longer able to put up their own ‘No Parking’ signs without prior approval from authorities.
Residents that set up any type of signboard or poster on their homes, including fences or any other kind of addition, will slapped with a Dh1,000 fine.
The municipality explained that the fine for violations should be paid within 30 days, otherwise, the case will be referred to court.
“The law prohibits such behaviour, and penalizes individuals who distort the appearance of the city or install signboards with the authorisation of the competent authorities,” said Abu Dhabi Municipality.
Residents were also warned not to hand out warnings to vehicles that allegedly use the parking spaces in front of their homes.
“People should stop warning other motorists not to park in front of their homes because it is a public space, and not designated to any particular person.”
