Dubai: The husband of the slain Filipina businesswoman will never have closure until justice is served and they finally lay her body to rest in the Philippines.
Lorna Lim Varona, 51, was found murdered in the trunk of her car in Sharjah on August 31. Police have in custody a suspect who allegedly confessed to the crime.
Pablo, Lorna’s husband, went to Sharjah on Monday and Tuesday to check whether they could bring his wife’s body home this week. But he said he was told to come back next Tuesday. Authorities last week said it could take 10 to 14 days before they could bring her home.
“As long as we haven’t laid her to rest yet, I will never be at peace,” Pablo told Gulf News.
“It’s been very difficult to plan anything until we get the clearance that we can take her home. Everything at this moment is hanging,” he added.
Pablo said the family has hardly had the chance to grieve his wife’s passing almost two weeks after she was found murdered in her car in Sharjah.
“Every night, my children and I would pray together for her the repose of her soul. But we haven’t really had the chance to mourn or to grieve as we don’t have her body yet on top of the paperworks and other requirements that we have to work on,” Pablo said.
“Although life must go on, I could say that life has not gone back to normal yet,” he added.
Lorna’s daughters, Maria Lourdes and Maria Liza, have taken over the management of their four businesses which Lorna owned and managed prior to her demise.
As soon as Lorna’s body is released, it will be shipped to the Philippines for about a week-long wake at Holy Trinity Memorial Chapel in Paranaque, a city south of Manila.
