Dubai: Mohammad Bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation (MBRCGI) announced the formation of an International Advisory Council to help enrich the UAE’s innovation role.

The council, which consists of eight members, includes global experts in the field of innovation, academics and global leaders, all selected on the basis of their scientific qualification and practical experience.

Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, said innovation has become a daily requirement in government function, and the formation of the council will help promote an innovation system in government work. The council will take advantage of global expertise to create an environment for innovation, and help motivate national talents by providing the right facilities.

This will help make the UAE one of the best countries in innovation globally, said Gergawi.

“We are hopeful that the council will support the efforts of Mohammad Bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation in predicting the most important future trends in scientific and technological fields,” said Al Gergawi.

He explained that the council will also help develop partnerships with stakeholders around the world, which include universities and scientific research centres that will develop technology solutions to meet the challenges in government work.

Huda Al Hashemi, Executive Director of MBRCGI, said the International Advisory Council in its first meeting discussed its role, tasks and the action plan for the upcoming period.

She said the council will work to strengthen the role of the centre by proposing new projects, initiatives, tools and topics for research and study.

Huda explained that the Council aims to strengthen the MBRCGI’s position as a global model by coordinating with universities, scientific research centres and other relevant organisations to facilitate partnerships that support the centre’s efforts. The council is set to meet twice a year.
