Abu Dhabi: When young martyrs, brimming with courage and ambition, give up their lives to restore hope and peace in Yemen, it sends a strong message to the wider world that the UAE is a nation with a wealth of true heroes and idols, a martyr’s mother said.

Speaking to Gulf News, the mother of the 31-year old martyr Mohammad Ali Al Hosani from Abu Dhabi, said that words will never suffice to convey her mixed emotions of sorrow and pride.

“Mohammad is my son, my martyr, my hero, who fought to grant Yemen and its people prosperous and happier lives.”

“It was definitely a shock at first, one that was also extremely hard to grasp. But when I took a few moments to calm down, I realised that this is possibly the best place he can be in. May he attain immediate access to heaven along with all the other brave martyrs.”

The recent humanitarian initiatives, people’s good wishes and, more importantly, UAE’s pioneering leadership who continue to provide unwavering support to all the families of the martyrs, have been truly invaluable and helped her and other mothers to recover quickly.

“For instance, Her Highness Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, dedicated the first Emirati Women’s Day, which falls on August 28, to all the mothers of martyrs, which indeed was such a generous gesture.”

“I truly feel honoured to be surrounded with so much love and support from everyone and I couldn’t have asked for a better country or leadership.”

Despite the fact that Mohammad is now a martyr, he is still with his family in spirit.

“His family never stop thinking about him. We are always praying for him and reciting the Quran for him.”

“Mohammad is not just my source of pride, but the UAE’s pride and honour. I don’t think anyone can represent their countries better than how these martyrs did.”

The mother added that Mohammad was a man known for his boundless noble acts and was loved by everyone.

“Even when he died, he died for such a noble cause. He was loved by all his friends and family but, today, he is loved and treasured by the whole world,” she added.
