Dubai: American Upright MRI Centre is offering free MRI scans to low-income workers who cannot afford it as part of their social endeavour this Ramadan.
The clinic is offering 26 Upright MRI scans for free, one for each remaining day of Ramadan, to those suffering from a painful back condition and need to see the cause of the pain.
“The emphasis of our initiative is to give service to the financially strapped workers who are not able to afford this technology,” said Dr John Graham, owner and CEO of American Upright MRI. “We are donating one MRI scan per day this Ramadan. We have already received a call from a Syrian woman in need and will see her this week.”
Dr Graham said the clinic has sent out messages to existing patients who may have employees with a need for an MRI scan and has also contacted a large group of doctors so they can refer their patients.
“Many workers may have back problems but also feel afraid to get it done in the conventional system but the upright system we use at the clinic allows the patient to stay calm and relaxed,” he said. “The clinic’s Upright MRI is the only scanner in the world to show 11 times the force of gravity as compared to a scanner where you lay down in a tube/permanent magnet.”
