Fujairah: A 33-year-old Emirati journalist died on Tuesday morning in a road accident on Dibba Al Fujairah Road, Lieutenant Colonel Dr Saeed Al Hassani, director of Media and Public Relations Department in Fujairah Police, told Gulf News.

The deceased was identified as Faris Abdullah Ali Al Zeyoudi who worked with WAM (Emirates News Agency).

Lt Col Al Hassani said the accident occurred at 7:45am.

The accident occurred when a 41-year-old Emirati, identified as A.S.A., overtook Al Zeyoudi’s car from the wrong side and crashed into his vehicle.

Paramedics and an ambulance rushed to the scene of the incident where the Emirati journalist was pronounced dead at the site while the driver of the other vehicle sustained serious injuries and was moved to Dibba Fujairah Hospital.

The case has been referred to the authorities concerned for completion of legal procedures.

Funeral prayers were held today at Shaikh Zayed Mosque in Dibba Fujairah.

The National Media Council extended its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased, praying to Allah Almighty to bestow His mercy on him and rest him in eternal peace, and to grant his family patience and solace.
