Dubai: Enjoy, discover and taste Kerala in Dubai as the grand jamboree of the south Indian state comes to town.

The Grand Kerala Festival (GKF), a three-day extravaganza, will showcase the culture, cuisine and sights of Kerala, a region which has a huge presence in the UAE. The festival will held between February 20 and 22.

Around 1.2 million Keralites living in the UAE will come together for the grand festival that will take place in February 2014, offering a glimpse of the state that is fondly known as God’s own country.

Organised by Chlorophyll Media, an event management company, the event will host activities ranging from entertainment and dance shows to a food festival that will include cuisines from regions of Kerala including Malabar, Kochi and Travancore.

“With such a large number of Keralites living here in the UAE, this event will really bring Kerala to Dubai,” Suresh Lal, CEO and Director of Chlorophyll Media told Gulf News.

Lal added that the event, which was inspired by the “Kerala Shopping Festival” taking place in India, will also include over 50 business stalls.

GKF will also host a business exhibition, offering investment opportunities in the state as well as promoting the state’s tourism and heritage.

The business exhibition will highlight investment companies, industries and government bodies in Kerala. The festival will also feature several competitions including painting, photography, embroidery and short film contests.

Entertainment activities and the food festival will be held at Wonderland Amphitheatre. Al Nasr Leisure Land in Dubai will host the business exhibition.
