Abu Dhabi: The UAE’s Founding Father’s legacy will further be spread worldwide as Etihad Airways unveiled its specially-designed A380 ‘Year of Zayed’ aircraft on Monday.
Shaikh Theyab Bin Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Department of Transport, on Monday inspected the passenger aircraft with the Year of Zayed livery emblazoned on its fuselage at Etihad Airways Engineering’s facilities in Abu Dhabi.
Shaikh Theyab was joined by Mohammad Mubarak Fadel Al Mazroui, Chairman of Etihad Aviation Group, and Tony Douglas, Group CEO of Etihad Aviation Group, as well as members of the Etihad senior leadership team.
The A380 in ‘Year of Zayed’ livery is just one component of Etihad’s extensive initiatives taking place throughout 2018, which are based on the four ‘Year of Zayed’ themes of wisdom, respect, sustainability, and human development.
Passengers travelling on this aircraft will enjoy a host of content and services inspired by the late Shaikh Zayed, including themed in-flight entertainment. Kids will be entertained with bespoke activity books with a photo gallery of his life.
Meanwhile, the other aircraft dedicated to the Year of Zayed initiative, a ‘Year of Zayed’ humanitarian freighter, is set to conduct its first flights for charitable organisations in May. The humanitarian cargo plan will operate several humanitarian cargo flights to deliver complimentary supplies to countries in need of support with the support of the Emirates Red Crescent, the Khalifa Foundation and the Shaikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan Humanitarian and Scientific Foundation.
