The Happiness Hill at the Smart Dubai stand at Gitex Technology Week

Dubai: Did you know that government and non-government entities in Dubai have a happiness champion? Nominees from 41 entities in Dubai are selected to become members of a group under a Smart Dubai initiative.

At present, there are 47 happiness champions who are working towards the mission of making Dubai the world’s happiest city.

The Smart Dubai Office (SDO) launched its Happiness Agenda, last year to boost people’s happiness across the emirate.

Adopted by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in May 2016, the agenda is a unique science-based and psychological approach that measures the happiness of individuals in the city and works to establish an environment that promotes happiness and positivity.

Nomination

Gulf News spoke to Hamad Yousuf Al Awadhi, Assistant Project Manager at Smart Dubai, leading the Happiness Champions initiative.

According to Alawadhi: “Smart Dubai sends a nomination letter to various government and non-government entities in Dubai, listing the basic criteria. Based on the list, the Director General of each entity sends back the name of a nominee.”

He added: The group meets on regular basis to hold meetings and workshops and the champions are encouraged to share ideas about how to make Dubai happier”.
