Dubai: Police in Dubai went out of their way to show a resident that his patriotic act did not go unnoticed.
In a video posted on Dubai Police’s social media accounts, Laith Al Khazraji was honoured by the police force for his national duty of raising the UAE flag after it was blown down to the ground.
Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, gave a certificate of appreciation to Al Khazraji, for his sense of patriotism.
In the video, Al Khazraji explained what he did when he saw the flagpole knocked down by a strong gust of wind.
"I was driving with my family in Mamzar when I saw what happened, and thought that the best way to teach my son a lesson in patriotism was to raise the UAE flag up high. It is the duty of everyone living in the UAE to give justice to this secure and stable land,” he said.
