Dubai: Come next week, residents and tourists will be able to get a 360-degree view of Dubai from a new level.
Dubai Frame, the iconic twin tower project with a 150-metre-high glass bridge observation deck will open next week, a top official said on Thursday.
The official inauguration of Dubai Frame or Berwaz Dubai will take place next week and the public will be able to visit the frame from the next day, Hussain Nasser Lootah, director-general of Dubai Municipality told Gulf News.
He was speaking on the sidelines of a ceremony to honour the volunteers who took part in the Clean Up the World campaign held in November.
Though he did not disclose the exact date for the grand inauguration of Dubai’s latest tourist attraction, Lootah clarified that it will not offer any free entry to the public like Dubai Safari which gave free entry to all visitors for 10 days after its soft opening on December 12.
Entry tickets to Dubai Frame will cost Dh50 for adults, while children will have to pay Dh30, according to a previous announcement from a Dubai Municipality official.
Lootah added that visitors will be able to purchase the tickets through a website that will be launched soon and also at the ticketing counters.
He said the municipality is working with Etisalat for launching the website.
“The number of people allowed inside (at a time) will be restricted. We can’t allow several people to go to the top of the frame together,” he explained.
Earlier this week, Lootah and other senior officials paid an inspection visit at the Dubai Frame in preparation for the grand opening.
Mohammad Mubarak Al Mutaiwe’e, assistant director-general for Communication and Community Sector, who accompanied Lootah, said visitors will have a similar experience like that of At The Top, Burj Khalifa, as they will be allowed in groups to view the city from the new observation deck for a specified time.
That is the very reason why Emaar Properties, the developer of Burj Khalifa, has been assigned with the consultancy services related to the administrative and finance operations and visitor management.
At the top of Dubai Frame, visitors will have a bird’s eye view of old Dubai as they look towards Karama, Umm Hurair, Bur Dubai and Deira, and as they turn around, they can see the high-rise towers and development projects of new Dubai in contrast.
An architectural landmark bridging Dubai’s past, present and future, the Dubai Frame covered in gold-cladding is located in Zabeel Park. It has been in the making since 2013 and is expected to attract two million visitors a year.
A recent video released by the municipality showed that visitors can take a tour all the way from the water fountain located at the entrance, through the museum on the ground floor, and up to the purple and blue installation of lights at the observation deck. Various elements including holograms and 3D technology are used to depict the past, present and future of Dubai.
