Abu Dhabi — The Coptic Orthodox Church in Abu Dhabi hailed the UAE’s moderate approach and its work to consolidate principles of tolerance, brotherliness and peaceful coexistence between different religions.
The statement was made on Saturday during a reception to a mark Easter, which was attended by Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance.
On the occasion, Shaikh Nahyan said that this year the celebration of Easter coincides with the UAE marking the Year of Zayed. Shaikh Nahyan said that the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan laid down the foundation for values of good conduct and noble humanity, which are derived from Islamic teachings. Shaikh Nahyan pointed out that the celebration of Easter on a popular and official level reaffirms that President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates are following the same approach set by Shaikh Zayed.
Shaikh Nahyan congratulated Egyptians on the re-election of Abdul Fattah Al Sisi for a second presidential term.
The reception was also attended by Dr Mohammad Mattar Al Kaabi, Chairman of the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments, and Wael Jad, Egypt’s Ambassador to the UAE.
