Dubai: Hundreds of members of the Church of South India Tamil Parish Dubai donated blood on Friday at the Dubai Blood Donation Centre.

Now in its fourth year, the church’s blood donation camp is aimed at “the betterment of society”, Singh Ratnam, honorary secretary at the church, said.

More than 300 members from ages 21 to 50 enlisted to donate blood this year, about half of whom were new donors, Ratnam said.

Ratnam said the Church of South India Tamil Parish Dubai has about 10,000 Tamil Christian families living in Dubai and Sharjah, accounting for the second largest Christian group after Roman Catholics.
