Facility aims to involve parents in overall development of their wards
Sharjah: The newly-opened Alwan Children’s Centre at Al Majaz Waterfront has invited parents to contribute positively to the comprehensive learning environment that it aims for. The centre was inaugurated by Shaikha Budoor Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), on November 28.
The centre aims to provide children a supportive learning environment by involving parents in a social care and learning setting that allows their children to grow and enhance their self-esteem and self-awareness.
“The centre helps children to discover their passions and abilities,” said Marwan Bin Jasem Al Sarkal, CEO of Shurooq.
The centre includes a variety of specially designed areas, including a nursery, children’s playground, a small coffee shop, and hair salon. It also includes an art space, a space designed for handicrafts, another space for story-telling, a computer room, sports room, and a meeting area for special occasions.
Alwan Centre also offers a full range of fun-filled and educational activities including, colouring, and drawing, Origami, piano classes, Yoga classes, storytelling, pottery, tree-planting, cooking, and many more.
With the aim of instilling in children positive behavioural patterns, the centre focuses on activities based on cooperation and team work while helping children develop their communication skills.
