Project aims at helping families living in old homes needing renovation in Dubai
Dubai:
The Community Development Authority (CDA) honoured representatives of groups that participated in its ‘Your Home, Our Home’ initiative aimed at renovating and repairing old houses in the emirate.
CDA launched the project to help families living in old homes around Dubai who don’t have the financial means to restore their homes.
They are provided with free renovation, including construction materials and manpower who are mostly volunteers from the emirate.
The initiative aims at raising awareness about voluntary work and motivating other members of society to participate. So far, three houses in Jumeirah have been renovated with nine more to go for the first phase of the project.
Khalid Al Kamda, CDA Director General, honoured Abhay Urankar, Sudheer Ramachandran and Premkumar of Emcon Company as well as Sunil Sawlani of Roti Mum cafe, and Costas Frangoudes of Wade Adams Company who supplied the volunteers with tools, material and catering.
“The initiative, ’Your Home, Our Home’, reflects our vision to create a comprehensive system of social services to meet the needs of all the individuals in the society in line with the vision of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to promote the standards of social services in Dubai,” Al Kamda said.
“CDA thanks the representatives of all the entities who contributed to make this initiative a success. CDA is keen on strengthening cooperation between all the partners in both the private and the public sectors to provide the community with the best services,” he added.
