From the two-minute versions to the elaborately prepared variety, noodles have an incredible ability to slurp out the bad energy. It is top-class comfort food. So, kick-starting our weekend with a trip to the Noodle Factory (magically) lifted our spirits.

Although the visit to Wafi meant the customary navigation snag with too many restaurants en route distracting us, we braved it for a meal of strappy delights.

And once at the neat, little corner, we felt the trek was well worth our effort. Minimal decor, a cornered open kitchen, an unfussy menu, gave it an unpretentious, likeable tug. Like most noodle houses, this one too endorsed a school book style menu, with tiny boxes to tick our choice.

And once we exercised our selection, the courteous waiter scanned it, suggested a few changes and immediately got on the job.

Within minutes, our table filled up with visually stunning creations, playing wicked games with our minds. We proceeded with the deep-fried, tempura prawns, crunchy on the outside and silky smooth on the inside, and tiny, flavoursome packs of seafood dumplings.

Each distinctly tantalising and remarkably creative. While waiting for our mains, we ordered our drinks - a lemony peach fruit and fresh orange juice, to help us ease the gastronomic assault on our tummies.

The mains arrived, after a marked gap, giving us ample time to recuperate. The yaki udon, tossed with veggies, chicken and prawns was spot-on, but it was the veggies dressed in oyster sauce that won us over.

The kung pao chicken, however, didn't evoke any surprises, remaining disappointingly regular.

We skipped the sweet trail, merely because of limited free tummy space, but with the promise of trying them out another time.
