This is what connected two cities, Rome and Abu Dhabi; two countries, Italy and UAE; and two individuals, Bulgari's Creative Director, Lucia Silvestri and Shaikha Fatima Bint Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the Abu Dhabi ruling family.
From this special union, the Bulgari Jannah High Jewellery collection was born in 2020. Today, the story continues with the unveiling of the second chapter, the introduction of a Fine Jewellery Jannah collection sharing Shaikha Fatima’s sincere wishes of joy and peace through timeless and eternal creations.
The origins of Jannah date back to 2017 when Shaikha Fatima and Lucia Silvestri first met at the Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, where they found the inspiration for the collection’s design among the marble motifs. United by their love for beauty, family and life itself, the two women then met in Bulgari’s offices and creative centre in Rome to give birth to the symmetrical five-petal Jannah flower, a metaphor for absolute perfection, as expressed by the name itself which means paradise in Arabic.
Celebrating the encounter of two cities, cultures and families, it was dedicated to Shaikha Fatima’s beloved grandfather Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
“The collection touched so many people – my family; my country,” says Shaikha Fatima. “I wanted to share my grandfather’s message of love and peace.”
And it really worked.
Silvestri, who has been finding inspiration in her travels, in the fascinating encounters with different people and cultures, says, “I felt immediately connected with Shaikha Fatima: we share a love for beauty, a devotion to our precious roots, as well as a genuine passion for life.
“Creating together – the energy and inspiration were wonderful.”
The new collection
A natural evolution from the Jannah High Jewellery masterpieces, the new Fine Jewellery collection reimagines the distinctive floral motif found on the interior walls and ceilings of the Shaikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi into six delicate and refined 18-carat rose gold creations to be freely combined in different everyday sets.
Embedded in a circular gold frame, the five-petal flower set with iridescent mother-of-pearl inserts and dazzling diamond pavé, animates a sophisticated pendant necklace with matching pendant earrings, finished with a shimmering gold and diamond tassel, perfectly combining glamour and ease.
“It is so light and beautiful, literally heaven,” says Shaikha Fatima about the new collection. “This is Shaikh Zayed’s message through a work of art.”
Silvestri agrees. “The iconic Jannah flower is perfect for fine jewellery. It was something we loved at first sight; we loved the geometry. Italian and Arab culture meeting in a seamless creative balance.”
Stud earrings, a soft bracelet and an elegant pendant necklace fusing refined simplicity with a richness of details are perfect to infuse any everyday style with joy and brightness, while a versatile sautoir features two-sided discs - with or without diamond pavé lines - which can be rotated to create different compositions.
A new global ambassador bridges the East and West
As the face of the new collection, Bulgari has appointed the internationally acclaimed actor, film producer, activist and New York Times best-selling author Priyanka Chopra Jonas. Chopra Jonas incarnates strong values and espouses messages around the world focusing on the themes of women’s empowerment, diversity, inclusion and philanthropy.
She will spread the positive message of Jannah beyond the UAE and globally making the motif’s legacy accessible to a new generation of empowered women.
