Dubai: Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), as the ‘Official Culture Supporter of Expo 2020 Dubai’, on Saturday announced its readiness to welcome visitors at all its facilities and assets across the emirate.

Dubai Culture has prepared a set of various cultural projects and initiatives that will contribute to enhancing the emirate’s creative scene and enriching the cultural and creative content of the Expo, it said in a statement.

Expo 2020 Dubai, taking place from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022, is the first international Expo to be held in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia region. It also serves as a promotion for the UAE, with 25 million people expected to visit the event.

Ideal introduction

Hala Badri, director-general of Dubai Culture, said the Expo constitutes an ideal platform for the authority to introduce millions of visitors and residents to the city’s cultural scene and creative economy. Badri added that the authority was also keen to train all its visitor-facing teams to be ready to welcome Expo 2020 Dubai visitors from all over the world and present an exemplary cultural experience to the guests of Dubai.

Badri said: “Dubai Culture’s support for Expo 2020 Dubai is based on a balanced and cultural environment as well as on an integrated creative system that supports talents and enhances cultural awareness among the public, keeping the world informed of Dubai’s culture, its values of tolerance and openness, and the warmth of its people.”

Badri added: “Dubai is a city whose bright present is based on its authentic past and rich cultural content; the emirate is headed towards a more prosperous future. At Expo 2020 Dubai, which brings together the world’s cultures and creativity to chart the features of a better future for humanity, we will celebrate this rich content and inspire the whole world with the extraordinary ambitions of our leadership and people.”

Making culture accessible

In line with its strategic roadmap 2020-2026, the authority is committed to making culture accessible to everyone through the historical, heritage and cultural assets that it manages in the emirate.

Dubai Culture is also enabling and supporting a number of annual events, which have become an integral part of the emirate’s cultural agenda, and is keen to ensure that all facilities affiliated to the culture and heritage sector – such as museums, libraries, heritage sites, and art galleries – are operating at “optimal degrees of readiness” to all visitors to Expo 2020 Dubai and enrich their experience.
