When you represent the pinnacle of luxury, it is a tough task to improve upon your already splendid products. However, with the latest iteration of its full-size GLS SUV, Mercedes-Benz has managed to do just that. Widely acclaimed as the S-Class of SUVs, the GLS is Mercedes-Benz's largest and most luxurious SUV. Now, the Stuttgart carmaker has added even more space, more comfort and more luxury to the premium flagship.

The confident presence of its exterior has been enhanced with even larger dimensions than those of its predecessor. One of the benefits of the 60mm longer wheelbase is interior spaciousness, especially in the second row. The three fully electrically adjustable seat rows offer all passengers a generous amount of space and outstanding seating comfort. The seats in the third row can be lowered into the floor to increase the boot space up to 2,400 litres, while the seats in the second row fold flat. Furthermore, a six-seater variant with two luxury individual rear seats in the second seat row is available for the first time.

The GLS features the latest generation of Mercedes-Benz driving assistance systems including Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC with route-based speed adaptation, and Active Stop-and-Go Assist that helps keep the car in lane and maintain safe distance at speeds up to around 60 km/h.

The new 4MATIC all-wheel drive system ensures great agility on the road and strong performance off the beaten track. The GLS comes with the enhanced AIRMATIC air suspension system with Adaptive Damping System Plus fitted as standard. This set-up uses highly complex sensor systems and algorithms to adapt the damping characteristics to the road conditions and driving situations in real time.

As the S-Class of SUVs, the new GLS indulges its passengers with comfort and convenience features including MBUX Rear Seat Entertainment System with two 11.6-inch touchscreens for movie, music and browsing, Rear Comfort package Plus that offers separate tablet for controlling all of the MBUX comfort and entertainment functions from the rear seats, electrically adjustable seats throughout as standard with Easy-Entry function, which makes it easy to get into and out of the third seat row, two fully fledged seats in the third row (for people up to 1.94m tall), ventilated seats and separate USB charging ports for the third row, and a five-zone automatic climate control.

It even has a new Carwash function, which enables the car to be prepared for entry into a carwash with a single press of a button, by folding the exterior mirrors, closing the side windows and the sliding sunroof, suppressing the rain sensor information so that the windscreen wipers remain switched off in the carwash, switching the climate control to air-recirculation mode and after eight seconds, activating the 360-degree camera's front image to assist the driver when driving into the carwash!

Overall, the new GLS embodies luxury, confidence and intelligence like no other vehicle in its class.
