Emirates airline is apparently on the verge of breaking through with a sponsorship deal with English soccer giants Chelsea Football Club Gulf News learnt through reliable sources yesterday.

"Bahrain has taken over the race to build a racing circuit in order to promote motor sports in the Middle East," the UAE's ace rallyist Mohammed bin Sulayem told Gulf News.

"The car exploded into a ball of fire...We could not go through it...I don't know what happened."

Bahrain has taken pole position ahead of its rivals in a bid to bring Formula One motor racing to the Middle East.
