Elie Attieh has been a prominent figure on the clubbing scene for 19 years.

After successfully producing his first remix of the famous old song Enta Umri, for Egyptian singer Um Kulthoum, the Lebanese music producer's reputation has grown all around the world. His latest, a third album The Orient Zone, is a successful addition to his portfolio.

Attieh told Notes that his third album is different from his past achievements. "All of the tracks are my original pieces. There is only one remix song for Lebanese singer Majida Al Roumi," he said.

The DJ, who has been working in Dubai for three years, said that he chooses to remix old songs that he generally likes. "Nowadays nobody likes to listen to an hour-long song. So what I do is I choose the song's best parts and combine them with dance music," he said.

Jouja — tracks number eight and 10 — is Attieh's favourite in his new album.

"I combined Irish/Scottish music with Oud playing. I produced two tracks, one was a house mix and the other a breeze mix," he said.

Attieh's music is popular among club goers.

"I usually test my music on people in clubs. I look for their reactions and see whether they like it or not. So far, they have been very happy with my music," he said.

The Orient Zone

DJ Elie Attieh has introduced a new flavour to the Arabic music scene.

For the first time, he dedicates a CD fully to his own original music apart from the track Khidni Habibi, one of Lebanese singer Majida Al Roumi's hit songs.

The remix is edgy and catchy. Whether you are familiar with Al Roumi's music or not, you cannot help but keep hitting the rewind button for more.

Attieh's favourite track Jouja may be a riveting mix of Irish music and Oud playing, but it can also be compared to a nostalgic rendering of a forgotten nursery rhyme.
The Oud was dominant in most of the tracks. It adds a true oriental twist to some pulsing fusion mix.

So if you love fast, rhythmic music, Attieh's CD is an important addition to your car.
