#Turkey on social media. An attempted Turkish military coup crumbled on Saturday after crowds answered Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s call to support him. A faction within the military attempted to overthrow the government using tanks and helicopters and by blocking bridges in Istanbul. At least 265 people were killed in a night of chaos and nearly 3,000 troops suspected of a part in the plot were arrested. Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport was also closed for a period of time, cancelling many flights, including those from the UAE. Social media users have been discussing the situation in the nation since the attempted coup began, using #Turkey and #TurkeyCoupAttempt. Some were sharing videos and pictures from the scene while others were commenting on the issue.
