I’ve been regularly watching the news and reading articles about the vulnerable state of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar. Initially I expected things to settle down soon, but with time they only got worse. I fail to understand, why is the world so incapable of doing something for them? To the authorities of different nations out there - have you ever wondered how it feels, when you are ousted from your own country, just because you follow a particular religion? What is the agony of witnessing your entire family’s slaughter with your own eyes? And even if you survive, what extent of helplessness will you feel with nowhere to go? Literally nowhere. No one is willing to accept you. There are little to no healthcare facilities, no proper education, no decent standard of living. All that exists is fear of death. This, and far worse, is what the Rohingya Muslims are facing.
The world reeks of civilisation. Countries boast of their power, each claiming to be stronger than the other. Yet, what powerlessness is this that none of those ‘influential’ countries can give asylum to these innocent people? Why? Is it because they aren’t rich to plump your country’s economy? All they have is tears of pain, stories of oppression and deaths, bleeding souls, and shattered hope. Not heavy duty weapons which would have otherwise interested the world.
We are losing more and more of Rohingya Muslims every day, under the pretext of ‘ethnic cleansing’. Every day, humanity bows down in shame.
Well done, Myanmar. Well done, world.
The entire genocide scenario compelled me to write this. I wish to spread the word across so that more and more people feel strongly about this problem. This needs to stop as soon as possible.
