On Tuesday night a sucide bomb attack killed 36 people at Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport. 147 people were injured. Many shared scenes from within the airport on social media. People around the world expressed solidarity with the victims and condemned the attack.

David Omotade: “I see human but I see no humanity, a Muslim country being attacked proves that terrorism has no religion. #Turkey”

Angela Nair: “We didn’t start the fire... Looking at the world around us made me think of this song.

People bury their heads in the sand and ignore the bombing, killing and maiming of people who just want to go about their day. The bombing in Turkey is awful - my kids went to Turkey, thank the Lord this did not happen when they were there. I watch too, as the world turns against immigrants, hearts are hardening - and I ask myself, can one blame people for wanting to own their countries? The world is a dangerous place - people want to protect what’s theirs.”

Kelly Izdihar Crosby: “Another day, another atrocity, another time for the media to act like Muslims aren’t getting slaughtered by ISIS just like their Christian and Yazidi victims. Turkey is still on my bucket list, though. And for anyone who says, “But is it safe over there?” I direct you to your local news station to watch Americans doing a bang-up job of killing other Americans on the daily and I’ll ask you, “Is it safe here?”

The U.S. Mission to the European Union - USEU Brussels: “The United States strongly condemns today’s terrorist attack on Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport. We extend our condolences to the families of the victims and our hopes for a quick recovery for the wounded. We will remain in close touch with Turkish authorities throughout the investigation. — Statement from Deputy Spokesperson Mark Toner, June 28, 2016.”

Sovannah K. Mcpherson: “Our sincere condolences, kind thoughts, love and prayers for Turkey people at this very sad and tragic times.”

Gerhart Walch: “My heart goes out to the families of the victims and those who are hurt. This is pure evil. I am just waiting for our politicians to embrace more gun control measures, rather than to embrace teaching our youth and population to protect themselves.”

Bilal Hussain: “Really sad to hear about the suicide bombings in Attaturk Istanbul Airport. Heartfelt condolences with our Turkish brothers and sisters. Stay safe. #PrayforTurkey‪#Turkey”

Sanaa Lathan: “Wishing Peace. Love. Light. #Istanbul #Turkey”

Goffe Briggs: “I wish I could say something to make the fighting go away, a prayer for peace cause it’s the only way, love is the antidote, the cure to hate, stress & strife, it’s the light we need in this life. I love and pray for everyone, cause we are all God’s children under the sun, when Father will all unite as one? #LoveAlways #UniteNoFight”

Less than an hour after a coordinated suicide attack, social media watchdogs confirmed that Turkish authorities had blocked social media channels like Facebook and Twitter.
