Baby animals who are found orphaned or lost need warmth to recover. Born Free USA, is an animal advocacy nonprofit organization. Their mission is to advocate for the protection of animals from cruelty. Their campaign Fur for the Animals uses discarded fur coats to help orphaned baby animals feel at home.

Fur for the Animals - A donation drive runs from September through December 31 every year. After the drive has ended, donations are sent to wildlife rehabilitation and rescue centres where the fur is used to provide familiar comfort, warmth, and bedding to injured, orphaned, and sick wildlife in their care.

@BornFreeUSA: “Donate your unwanted fur items to us & we’ll send them to #wildlife rehab centres to comfort rescued #animals!”

Born Free USA: “Aww! Check out these photos of rescued wildlife snuggling in donated fur from our Fur for the Animals campaign.”

Michelle Oldenbeek: “Fur looks only good on the original owner, THE ANIMAL!”

Andrea Anderson: “A relative of mine passed away and I have her fur coats. I definitely don’t want to wear them. So I will definitely donate them so that they will go to animals in need. Thanks for this information!”

Frances Takacs: “Some fur was offered to me years ago, I was repulsed! Just can’t do it. I just buy faux fur or really plush fleece.”: “

Cynthia Steed: “Don’t have any fur items. Do not use fur and am against trapping. Can only send fleece.”

Anne Dodwell: “I can see how an orphaned animal could get comfort and go some way into putting right a wrong that has been done . Well done Born Free Foundation.”

Sarah Jane Walker: “I have some inherited and just feel sad when I look at them. One is a black baby bear...I cried over it. Why did they kill that baby, for a craft display. Sad. Other is a Fox.”

Tanya Vidoni: “Do you know the best animal organization on Canada that I could donate too... my mother-in-law has dug her’s out of the closet and is willing to give it back to the animals.”

Cynthia Steed: “Hate trapping and always have. I wish I could make it stop. People who trap are sub human and we don’t need to wear fur as we have many warmer substitutes now. All this is for a luxury market. Shame on you fur monsters.”

Kelly McKinney Zelinsky: “This is an awesome campaign to get old fur coats, hats, etc. to help orphaned animals. I inherited a fur coat but won’t wear it so it hung in a closet for more than 20 years. I was able to donate it to Born Free USA. At least it has purpose now. Their campaign runs through December.”

Johanna Benson Bettinger: “I have a couple I acquired in my life and this is EXACTLY where I want them to go!”

Barb Peterson Shipped my grandmother’s mink stole on Saturday! Thank you for offering this respectful way to re-purpose these unfortunate pieces of history.
