I was visiting Bur Dubai to have lunch and was surprised to see how people are misusing the public telephone booth there.
These booths are beautifully designed, in the shape of wind towers, which are a part of the UAE’s culture and heritage. However, they are being used as dustbins and spittoons.
I have lived in the UAE all my life and I think if the Municipality and authorities do so much to maintain the city, keeping it clean, planting tress and beautifying it, then, as residents, it should be our job as well to ensure the city stays clean.
I would like to request people to care for such structures and not mar their beauty by engaging in such unhygienic acts, especially when dustbins are provided throughout the city. There is really no reason for people to litter and spoil these facilities.
