Is money more important than our loved ones? Recently, I read in news about a son trying to kill his father after taking his thumb impression on the property papers. How can someone be so cruel to their own father?

This is just one case, but there could be many such cases of killing, cheating, slaving and abandoning parents for money. There was a time when family bonding was cherished and the generations of the family stayed together with love, affection and respect for each other.

Now those things have become so irrelevant that they have become a part of history. There will be some exceptions of course, but they are very rare.

Is our generation so cruel, intolerant, selfish and careless towards our own parents?

Everyone wants to earn millions, have big houses, live a life of luxuries and enjoy a lavish lifestyle. But when it comes to taking care of our own parents, especially in their old age, it seems to pain us so much. Let’s not forget, we owe our lives to our parents. We wouldn’t be here without them and what we do to our parents, will come back to us from our children.

There wouldn’t be any old ages homes, if we were taking care of our parents. Had they not sacrificed their sleep, their happiness, luxuries and dreams, we would not be what we are today.

Let’s rewind to our childhood, not only for our beautiful memories, but also to re-live our parent’s sacrifices by stepping into their shoes for once and give them a good life now when they need us the most.

We are lucky to have parents. The pain of not having them would be best explained by children who weren’t so fortunate growing up.
