Life is uncontrollable and unpredictable. It provides us with opportunities as well as challenges. Problems may come without notice and sometimes we are not prepared to face them so we get overwhelmed and stressed. No matter how positive and strong we are, we experience loss, disappointment, grief and sadness. When you are overwhelmed with negative emotions, they eat you up, drain your energy, and exhaust your mind and soul. When you are attacked and start losing control, just relax, do not fight, and do not waste more energy trying to get rid of negative thoughts and emotions. Embrace your sadness, acknowledge the fact that you are a human being not a robot. A universal truth is that everything has its opposite to balance; we need sadness to feel and appreciate happiness. Your aim should not be to oppress your feelings or hide them but to help yourself feel better by doing accumulative small acts that bring you momentary joy. Those acts could be as simple as taking a hot shower followed by a smoothie or hot drink, could be as simple as a long drive listening to your favourite music, or cuddle your pet to sleep. Sometimes a cup of coffee with someone who loves you, may be all the therapy you need. Step away from people and things that remind you of the reason of your suffering. Choose two or three people you trust and feel comfortable with to express your feelings with. Don’t act neutral, normal or happy when you are not. Allow your sadness to be released and your soul to grieve, to relieve. Give yourself some time to heal but make the healing time shorter. Keep in mind that life is too short to suffer. Embrace your sadness and take the necessary steps to overcome it faster.
