It’s time to go #BackToSchool... As summer holidays end and children head out the door in their neatly pressed, colour-coordinated uniforms and polished shoes, tweeps wish them a successful academic year ahead. Those who left school behind a long time ago, shared their experiences and were tongue-in-cheek about not missing the daily grind.

#BackToSchool - Tweeps used this hashtag to encourage children as they embarked on their first day of school. Others poked fun at the traffic congestion that has begun, and teased teenagers who are reluctant to study.

@AlJanaahi: “Stay with the teacher and connect with him/her. How many families have avoided a lot just from listening to teachers! They do not specialise in teaching and therefore do not have the expertise.” #BackToSchool

@ahmeddsr: “I ask God for my children and your children, daughters and sons, at the beginning of the new academic year, for success upon success. #BackToSchool”

@DRLayally: “Dear fathers, be sure to be with your kids and guide them even when you are away. Do not leave the full responsibility on the mother even as they go #backtoschool. There should be a balance.”

@WafaAlMulla: “Beautiful memories that stay with their children for life... and don’t ever forget these days and the days that celebrate the graduation of each stage.”

@OmarDXB: “354,869 - Number of texts sent to bosses by employees running late to work today! #backtoschool #traffic”

@asooma: “Some kids are back to school today. I don’t have kids but I could hear my 5 year old nephew wailing like he was at a funeral.”

@xitsnoreen: “Maybe if I stay in bed under the covers all day I can pretend I don’t have to go back to school in two days. #WishfulThinking”

@kaelaarmstrong: “I reeeeaaaalllly don’t wanna go back to school!”

@UNRWA: “Half a million #Palestine refugee children are going #backtoschool this fall.”

#weya_ayalna (‘With our children’) - Through this hashtag, the Abu Dhabi Education Council is urging parents to be fully involved in their children’s educational journey.

@ali__mabkhout: “Abu Dhabi Education Council has launched a campaign to promote the role of parents and the importance of their participation in their children’s school, for student support and guidance.”

@ADECTweet: “Photo of the interaction of parents with a campaign on the first day of school in Abu Dhabi.”
