Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Monday commented on the suspension of 25 party MPs from Lok Sabha for five days, she dubbed it as ‘black day for democracy’. Her party said that Narendra Modi’s government was trying to implement a “Gujarat model” of democracy in India. Nine opposition parties joined hands in protest against Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP), India’s ruling party, for the suspension and discussed about boycotting the parliament for five days in solidarity with the MPs who had been suspended.

#BlackDayforIndiaDemocracy - The hashtag became a worldwide trend on Tuesday morning. Many tweeps shared pictures and posters of protests, while many others defended BJP.
