Tight race in France

With tight security, France is conducting the presidential polls (‘French election: Top politicians back Macron’, Gulf News, April 25). Marine Le Pen and Emmanuel Macron have been much talked about among the candidates for the French presidential race. Whoever comes to power, the people are looking for their safety without terrorism and reforms, which has not been seen for decades. France faced tough times through terrorism in the past year and this needs to be remembered. Will the election outcome favour Le Pen? We will have to wait and see.

No need for fear

Violence existed even with the previous administration was in power in the Philippines (‘Tourist arrivals up 10.5% in the Philippines’, Gulf News, April 25). The only difference is that before criminals were victimising the law abiding citizens. Now the criminals have become the victims. So, if you are not criminal, you have no need to fear this new administration.

Helping the country

The Philippines is very safe compared to the previous administration. Only the opposition party members are throwing dirt on our country. They try to destabilise the current government so they can oust our President Rodrigo Duterte. They can’t accept the fact that Duterte is cleaning the Philippines and doing impossible things, like the new infrastructure implemented.

Talk to residents

What violence are they talking about in this report? The Philippines is safer now than it was before. Gulf News needs to speak to our fellow Filipinos to ask how the Philippines is now. Thousands of Filipinos are here in Dubai.

Safe for tourists

Before Duterte, law abiding Filipinos feared for their lives from just walking in the streets, because the previous administration only thought about their own interests and never made an effort to fight crime. We had the best laws, but they were laws without power and they weren’t implemented to punish criminals.

Now with Duterte he is just simply empowering the law abiding people to stand for themselves and cooperate with the local authorities. He has promised to keep us safe and threaten those who wish to do evil. He is the only president who has genuinely loved his nation. He is the father figure the country needed for a very long time.

We are in the process of cleansing. Crime has gone down, but we have a long way to go. We believe we can make it and bring our country to its full potential. We just needed a little ray of hope.

So is the country safe for tourists? Of course. But, it isn’t safe if you are also a criminal. Filipinos being who they are will show hospitality. Come and see.

Politicians at play?

The Philippines is much safer now than in previous years after cleaning up the street of drug pushers and addicts. It’s the opposition party composed of rich families that own local mainstream media that paint a darker picture as they want to sabotage the nation’s economy. That’s part of their regime change plan as pro-poor programs of Duterte are hurting their billions.

Be grateful

For almost two years working in a monotonous job, five days a week, doing the same thing – sometimes I feel bored (‘8 in 10 people in UAE bored with their jobs’, Gulf News, February 21). After I read this news and recognised that thousands of people beg for jobs, looking hard for something, I’m feeling grateful.

It’s the management

I’m bored, not only because of the job, but because of the company management. It’s lack of sleep, not getting a proper break for food and too many silly company policies.

Lack of creativity

I find boredom comes down to lack of creativity. This will always make you bored. Use the time to find ways that you can improve the way you work.
