Senseless art exhibition

It was absolutely wrong of the US to allow and host an art exhibition when it could hurt the sentiments of Muslims across the globe (‘US shooting, art exhibition unacceptable: Muslim scholar’, Gulf News, May 6). They themselves have invited trouble by organising such a senseless event. It is sad that Muslims have long been targeted and discriminated against despite the US boasting of being a free country. It is a shame for the US government to have permitted the exhibition to take place.

This isn’t freedom of speech!

I totally agree with Ms Fatima Suhail that the US government and the people hosting this exhibition are not exercising free speech or freedom of expression when it hurts and discriminates against the rights of others. After all, a majority of Muslims, who are moderate, do not exhibit hatred nor encourage hatred towards other religions.

A display of hate

It wasn’t an art exhibition, but a display of hate propaganda targeting a discriminated and marginalised community within the US and insulting the international community.

Boxer was disrespectful

Manny Pacquiao, who I had great respect for before the fight, has proven himself to be a complete disgrace to boxing (‘Pacquiao sued for $5m over alleged injury cover up’, Gulf News, May 6). Why? Because, boxers always show respect to their opponent. Anyone who enters the ring deserves respect and to say at the end of the fight that he thought he won when clearly he was outclassed in every department, is the height of disrespect. No one really likes Floyd Mayweather, including me, but give respect where it is due! He is very talented. If Pacquiao was a true champion, he would stand tall and admit defeat with grace, tell his fans that he lost fair and square — there is no shame in it.

A stronger fighter

Pacquiao disappointed his supporters. First, he made them believe that he will take down Mayweather, something he did not even come close to doing, and many still believed that Mayweather will be seriously beaten, but he didn’t even have a glove cut! Mayweather’s face remained very fresh and he looked very strong compared to Pacquiao.
