Proud of Indian hospitality for UAE leader
His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, arrived this week in India and he is most welcome there (‘Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed to start India visit on Wednesday’, Gulf News, February 7). He should come to South India, as we love our guests. Like the UAE, we live united with all our brothers and sisters.

A great reading initiative
Dubai is creating another record in the region by building a library shaped like a book (‘Dubai to build Dh1 billion library shaped like a book’, Gulf News, February 2). According to the report, the proposed library will house millions of books. Since it is the brainchild of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, he deserves praise from those who love and adore books and authors. What he has said is true, that the Arab world is facing a learning gap, which shows the need for projects of this size. The whole world is facing a learning gap, but the good rulers of the UAE, like him, take the initiative to bridge the gap.

Passion for his people
We adore Shaikh Mohammed for his foresight and true love for his country and people (‘Summit in Dubai to ‘shape future of governments”, Gulf News, February 6). All the best to him. May God guide and bless him always.

UAE is our gift
I salute one of the greatest visionaries and leaders in the world. I am privileged to be in this land, where there is so much peace. We can thank such great leaders for that. The past 36 years in this beautiful land has been the best phase of my life. Thank you for this great gift.

Airplanes aren’t concert venues
What the airline did was correct and this is a lesson to all cabin crew who should strictly follow the Aviation Rules and Regulations (‘Jet Airways suspends cabin crew for letting Sonu Nigam sing in-flight’, Gulf News, February 6). I am not against the playback singer. An Artist should perform at the right place. Many people have commented against the airline and supported the singer. If the passengers wanted to listen to him, the singer should have performed outside the airport. Suppose that a famous dancer was on board and the cabin crew allowed him/her to dance. What would happen? Just imagine!

Passenger entertainment
Some airlines are encouraging passenger entertainment, and once I witnessed a crew member asking children to sing songs and gave them toffees. I didn’t find any violation of air traffic rules in this. It was pleasant. In India, we are far too serious about everything.

Violates the law
But were the children singing over the inflight public address (PA) system? I think not. This is illegal on any airline and violates Civil Aviation Authority rules. It’s a global rule.

Playing with safety
It’s true it’s misconduct of rules and regulation. If any guest started dancing, then who is the responsible for the misbehaviour on the plane? You don’t have the right to play with other passengers’ lives.

Making the flight better
Nigam was superb and put big smiles on the people’s faces who were on the journey. I wish I was there! Why is the cabin crew getting suspended? I’m sure if the airline manager were there, they would have been enjoying taking pictures and being famous. Showing their efforts on their airlines.
I think the cabin crew should have been awarded for showing humanity with the people on board.

Be professional
It’s a good decision to suspend the crew! It is a must for the crew to follow the rules and regulations. It doesn’t matter if it’s a celebrity or politician. Cabin crew need to be professional.

What else should be banned?
In most of flights, there are big screens installed and movies and songs are going on. Why isn’t that kind of screen banned for the safety of passengers?

Rules are rules
All airlines have their own rules and the crew are given the legal practices inside the plane and surely it must be illegal. Thus, they have taken action for an illegal act inside the plane. All passengers may not like him getting up and singing. So, it’s correct.

Concentrate on other issues
Indian playback singer, Sonu Nigam, had the courtesy of entertaining the passengers free of cost, whereas Jet Airways does not have a good thought of even helping the passengers even if their baggage has been misplaced.

Disrespectful of singer
He is a singer with a major attitude trying to regain his popularity and putting the crew into trouble. I think it’s very disrespectful of him.

No singing allowed?
Get a life! Jet Airways is overreacting. I’m sure all passengers enjoyed this moment with just a few songs and no harm done. I feel sorry for the cabin crew who unintentionally made this happen. This airline next time should include on their safety demonstration: “No singing allowed, thank you.”

Drawing the line
It’s about decorum and discipline. Next thing you know, this will encourage others. Also no harm done in giving a field tour of our secret defence facilities to school children, right? It may not be fun, but rules are made for a reason.

No need to suspend them
This is not a good decision by the plane management because people pay thousands to hear these legendary singers. If he gives some free entertainment to the passengers, what happens? No need to ground the crew. If this was something bad, give him/her a warning. The first mistake doesn’t make you a bad person. My sympathy is with the cabin crew.

We must follow the law
Wrong is wrong, the law is the law. You must follow the law and deal with it. You can’t justify your argument just because your experiences have been terrible in certain circumstances. The post is a warning to all about the safety of passengers that the Aviation Authority must impose the rules.

Allow them to fly
The crew members did this as per the requests of the passengers, which normally is not allowed on any airlines. Since they have done this only once and they were not aware of the rules, I think the crew members should be reinstated. Mistakes happen to everyone. The poor crew members should be allowed to fly.
