This is not surprising!

When Israel police and Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) use brute force with the use of bullets and tear gas shells in Al Aqsa Mosque, what do you think that unarmed Palestinians should throw (‘1948 area Palestinians defend holy site’, Gulf News, September 28)? Flowers? Stones are the only weapon that Palestinians have against the lethal weapons of the IDF.

Secondly, Al Aqsa Mosque and the surrounding area of Occupied Jerusalem belong to Palestinians and Muslims, so why is Israel being aggressive with a policy of provocation against Palestinians?

The fact remains black and white: Zionists occupied the Palestinian land illegally. As covered extensively in historical literature such as, How Israel was Won: A Concise History of the Arab-Israeli Conflict, Israel doesn’t favour peace as per the doctrine of the former Israeli Minister of Defence Moshe Dayan when he said: “[Israel] must see the sword as the main, if not the only, instrument with which to keep its morale high and to retain its moral tension. Toward this end it may, no—it must—invent dangers, and to do this it must adopt the method of provocation-and-revenge...And above all—let us hope for a new war with the Arab countries, so that we may finally get rid of our troubles and acquire our space.”

So what peace are they talking about?

No point to it!

Why will the world not live in peace? We have enough issues as is, without this unwarranted aggression by Israel against the Palestinian people. The world should focus on eliminating poverty, hunger, unemployment and creating better global infrastructure in case of natural disasters, rather than inflicting pain in this manner. Instead, resources in terms of time and energy have to be spent on trying to deal with the Israel issue. And to what end? I wish the Zionists would see some sense.

Little changes from technology

Alarm clocks have been replaced by mobile phones since every telephone has an alarm feature in them now. Film rolls have been replaced by digital cameras. Recently, I found even pocket mirrors that are often carried in a woman’s handbag have also been replaced by phones. You might ask how this is done. I found this out at 4.45am when I was waiting for the bus to work and I saw a few airline staff were using their phones on the selfie camera mode to adjust their make-up. Those who keep mirrors can remove it from their bags and still continue adjusting their make-up.

Refugees face a hard life

Turkey is my home country and I think that being a tourist versus being a displaced person would be valid for any country, not just Turkey. Anyone who is poor or forced to flee their home will likely suffer in any country.
