A blatant disregard for others!

I have witnessed misuse on the Metro, and I’m not talking about eating or drinking (‘Do not misuse public transport’, Gulf News, June 30). Several times I have witnessed many men in the women and children’s section. Even worse, I’ve seen the men sit whilst the mothers and their children are forced to stand!

We paid, we have rights

But Ms Em Dodds, we paid the ticket, we have a right to sit! If we give our seat to women, then we’ll find ourselves throughout our entire life in the standing position when we travel.

Respect is expected

Ather Aziz, yes, I understand that you paid the ticket to ride, but I believe that the designated cart for women should only be used by women and children. We expect men to respect that.

Brushing teeth in public!

With regards to the article condemning spitting in public, I saw someone brushing their teeth in front of me at a traffic signal (‘Spitting in public is an ugly sight’, Gulf News, June 30)! At the next traffic lights, they opened the door and spat it out. Yuck! Spitting and littering is all over the place and it’s gross and unhygienic. I find it so rude because we all inhabit the planet and they ruin it for the rest of us who care about it. It’s very selfish.

Absolutely oblivious!

These habits are formed from an early age. Civic sense and responsibility needs to be inculcated at home and in school. I have personally been spat on with chewed betel nut. I also notice residents in my building littering the lifts and corridors. Some residents are just arrogant that they will open the garbage room door and toss it on the floor, rather than open the garbage chute and drop it in. People need to be educated and people who have no respect for civic sense need to be punished heavily.

Common enemy makes us friends

There is now one enemy in this world and we all need to fight them together (‘Gulf begins to feel the heat from its neighbours’, Gulf News, June 30). Daesh kills all they don’t like or who is not in their gang. It is not about being Sunnis and Shiites, it is just an excuse to hide behind. They kill Christians, Jews, Muslims and they will kill you if you’re in their way.

The decision makers

Actually, we have to understand that the international community is a community consisting of mostly non-Muslims who decide what to do with the Muslims (‘Israel’s shameless prisoner policy must be exposed’, Gulf News, June 30). It is very powerful. Unity is the need of the day. Please help Muslims all over the world!

Stop the evasion of justice

Sorry to say, my friend, but this is not the point. The point is that whatever happens, Israel is acting above the law and they have always gotten away with it due to the strong influence in the US. Justice will only happen if Israel is being boycotted by people like you and me.

Embassy living in the past

The worst service is at the Pakistan consulate and embassy. People start making a line outside of the consulate at 5am, just to get in early (‘Pakistan community slams poor services at missions’, Gulf News, June 29). By 8am there is a minimum of 200 people in line. Their management is not able to control the situation. The management and staff is totally uncooperative. They don’t have a proper system for documentations and they are not properly equipped. They don’t even have a proper waiting area. The public is just standing inside the consulate. They are still living in the 1980s. They should have a proper setup and they have to be equipped for the required systems and technology. There must be a counter service with the numbers.

I didn’t have a problem

I recently got my family’s passports renewed and my own National Identity Card (NIC) renewed. I found the service very good.
