A great sense of freedom

Freelance work is perfect when you don’t have a job. I’m not sure how it works or how many hours you need to log in, but in any case this is something that can fulfil people’s monetary needs. What does a good job look like anyway? The one that gives me 100 per cent job security, bonuses, a salary raise and a good insurance? In that case, I don’t have a good job and neither do many others. So, I don’t care what consultancy businesses say about a good or bad job. The bottom line is that such kind of freelance work, similar to what Uber offers, is the kind that has a great sense of freedom and doesn’t require you to look at any consultancy or marketing firms for any cause.

In favour of the company

Companies would appreciate freelancers because they don’t have to pay them a full month’s salary or offer them any benefits. They can hire them only when the company needs them. This works in favour of the company.

A step ahead

A new unit in the market has been trending, that is better known as freelancers. They are independent workers that perform tasks for multiple employers within a set period of time. As they work part time, they are beneficial to industries. In my opinion, companies are opting for freelancers solely because it is more convenient and flexible, and it most importantly reflects highly on the quality of work produced. Those who are in a long-term contract with the company may not provide the same high quality work. Ever since the global downturn hit, companies have become more cautious in their expenditures. The workload in companies keeps fluctuating and at times they need 50 workers, while at other times maybe just five. Therefore it is more suitable to employ freelancers in the required period rather than employing full-time workers, which might fall heavy on the company’s budget.

Focusing on development

Hiring freelance staff can be a flexible, cost-effective way to import skills and fresh perspectives in a business, while freeing the management to focus on other areas of development. It can help the organisation be more competitive and complete projects faster, without permanently adding to their overheads. It can save valuable time spent interviewing, since hiring permanent staff requires a much lengthier process, including several rounds of interviews. The business will be more agile and be able to respond to changes and challenges in the marketplace far more rapidly.

Offer them benefits

I think it is a flexible way of working, which is very good. But, companies should offer a proper allowance and benefits to the freelancers, too.

From Mr Ravi Lochan

Both are equally important

Hiring freelancers is an excellent way to not only cut cost from the company’s point-of-view, but also to give an opportunity to all those who are unable to work full-time. A person working for 9-12 hours a day has got a boring routine. We wake up in the morning, go to work and rush through the day to be able to go back home. Whereas, freelancers have an opportunity to earn from home or work flexible hours, as per their convenience. Talking about the benefits, the company can maintain a contract with the freelancer, discussing the benefits that can be provided to them during the period. However, one cannot ignore the fact that full-time workers are more important than the freelancers as they serve the company in a more serious manner than the latter.

It doesn’t matter

Companies cannot please everyone. It doesn’t matter whether the market is ready for freelancers or a different type of work schedule or not.

Morale boost

In any case there aren’t many end-of-service benefits in many countries. So, it is better to have the option to work part time or as a freelancer and earn a lot more. This will boost morale.

Cannot trust them

Some companies prefer to hire few freelancers and they may save money and skip benefits. At the same time, freelancers aren’t trustworthy as they can leave you any day, at any time. So it is a win-win situation for both parties involved, but the combined journey is normally short. You cannot invest a lot in freelancers. I know I wouldn’t prefer to.
