More to life than school
A student’s life is not just about attending school and excelling in academics. The summer break gives children a chance to take a break from their usual busy schedule, attend hobby classes and discover the things they are good at. I think it helps in their all-round development. They can be creative and hone their skills. And they can take out some time to revise their syllabus a bit so that it becomes easier to catch up once they are back in school.

Already counting down
Summer holidays are boring if we plan to stay back in the UAE the whole time. Most of the time we are bound to stay indoors. Still, 40 days remaining to pass!

Other ways to learn
A typical summer break in Dubai could last up to ten weeks. During the many humid sweaty weeks, students detox from their stress. Reading and numerical skills could be enhanced in the break! If students are exposed to learning material through several outdoor and indoor activities, we are learning! Learning doesn’t have to necessarily be limited to the classroom experience.
Moreover, students have more chances of recalling interesting pieces of information. Thanks to the arrival of different activities, there exists possibilities of being mathematically and linguistically challenged. For instance, a trip to the Maldives inculcates young minds of the typical geography and culture of the place.
A suggestion that I would lend is to ensure that students get an enhancing learning experience so that the long break can be benefited by the students academically and mentally. After all, doesn’t all work but no play makes Jack a dull boy?

A time to relax
Holidays are never long! They are the most awaited time of the year. Although it becomes a concern for working parents on how to manage children’s timings during holidays, it is still relaxing.

Why an issue?
They have been this long since education began! Since when was this even an issue?

Forget previous lessons
Yes of course it’s too long! When they get back to school, they forget all their previous lessons. Two months is more than enough.

Give homework
Three months is okay due to the hot weather. Expatriates use this time to visit their countries, but some creative homework must be designed and given to the students during this time! It’s a must!

Say ‘no’ to homework
Brother, let them enjoy their vacation. Don’t ask for homework.

Waste of money
Two and a half months is so long. We are paying tuition fees for 10 months and the total leave for a year is three and a half months. A month and a half of tuition fees are totally useless.

Much needed break
I don’t think it’s too long, especially when you live in a country where the temperature goes up past 40 degree Celsius. It’s unbearable for both children and teachers. Other than that, we all need a break.

No excuse!
It’s too long in the UAE. Everywhere there is air conditioning available, but a 45-day break would be okay, because the schools need summer maintenance.
