Tool to broadcast everything

To put it plainly, social media platforms are indeed being misused. People have started utilising it to broadcast their personal life, rather than to stay connected with family and friends. Gone are the days where people wrote to each other and shared their thoughts. These days, only photographs of happy moments are posted online in an attempt to get maximum likes. The actual purpose of social media is connectivity but instead, we are using it as a means to promote the happenings in our life. It has merely become a medium for us to showcase the ‘happy moments’ and share only as much information as we like people to know and judge us upon. Unfortunately, social media is no longer used for communication purposes.

A platform to boast

Social media sites started off as a great platform for connecting with family and friends, but today, because of our over dependence on such sites, it is having a negative impact on our lives. This frequent utilisation has started to affect our social life and communication skills. There is a false sense of connection. It also leads to a lot of misunderstandings between people. It is used as a platform to show off and boast, rather than stay in touch with others. People compete with each other for likes and comments, and it is very unhealthy.

Glamourising the ordinary

Actually to some people, Facebook is just used for showbiz. It is a tool to showcase their life, especially how they live it and show off to other people. To me, Facebook should be used to network with people and friends.

All is not lost

I believe that portraying success on social media is not about boasting but about building self-esteem and self-confidence. Even today, it is about staying eternally linked to loved ones and sharing what we feel is worthwhile. Kind gestures have been in existence over the years. Even today human beings value personal gestures over social media posts, which fade away over time. However, the comforting hug of a friend, motivational words of a teacher or a simple helping hand from a stranger can stay etched in the hearts of people forever.

Longing for the past

I miss those days when we would sit down with friends and family and talk about something sensible. Nowadays, everyone is always busy chatting with strangers online.

Use but don’t misuse

Social media is a huge sea of knowledge. We can get a lot of information from it, but we should not misuse it. It is a great platform for connecting with friends and family who stay away as well.

Expressing honesty

People do tend to tell the truth more on social media. Especially when they feel like there is a veil of anonymity. You get a more accurate picture of the person on such platforms.

Don’t say anything

It’s better not to say anything on social media. Don’t express your emotions and what you feel publicly, especially on these platforms

Stop posting

I ironically had a fight with my wife’s sister because she was posting my daughter’s photos on social media.

Real versus fake

Well the ‘real’ is always a real and the ‘fake’ will always be fake. You can share your feelings but you won’t find any comfort on this platform.
