A good move from RTA

It is good to hear that the Roads and Transport Authority is working on that and it will be good if accident sites can be cleared in 12 minutes (“Dubai accident sites to be cleared within 12 minutes”, Gulf News, December 13). It will be very helpful for the people in Dubai who face major delays due to accidents on the road. Day by day, the number of vehicles on the road is making it difficult for the RTA to manage. But if they are working on a plan, it means that they will surely be successful. We can see the Dubai Metro, bus and taxi as an example. I have been staying in Dubai for the past 14 years, and I have never felt any transport problems by the RTA. Overall, it’s great news for the public.

Possible with time

I would say yes, accidents sites to be cleared within 12 minutes in order to avoid heavy traffic jams could be possible only if a permanent traffic police post is put on the most dangerous roads. Finally, I would say that all the drivers from all Emirates should become more responsible while driving. They should be respecting driving rules specifically for speeding and reckless driving.

Bear the consequences

The polar bear faces extinction due to climate change and the melting of ice (“Emaciated polar bear hits raw nerve”, Gulf News, December 12). They have lost their habitat. Polar bears are classified as marine mammals, which live in the Artic Sea. It is estimated that only 25,000 polar bears are left in different locations in the Artic and this number will decline to just one third of the population within 20 years. Studies say they will become extinct in the year 2050. Even though the World Wildlife Fund has listed the polar bear as endangered species, reports say that around 600 polar bears are killed very year. The Earth continues to warm up and we are losing bears, penguins and more animals. We should save the Artic region and it’s high time we reduce our carbon footprint, protect our natural habitat and stop cutting down the trees. We need to be more eco-friendly.

Talk is cheap

Discussion? That’s all that happens these days - discussions. We have been having these discussions for decades, with zero result. What is required is action, which sadly no one is willing to do. We’re not concerned about human beings leave alone animals and plants. God bless us all.

Too much of a hype

No doubt, after the marriage of the Nawab Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, the former Indian cricket captain to actress Sharmila Tagore, the marriage of Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma is a dream wedding (“Anushka Sharma-Virat Kohli secrets: as revealed to Gulf News”, Gulf News, December 13). However, unlike the marriage of Pataudi, this marriage was hyped up a lot, mainly by the media and in our country. Even though it is a celebrity wedding, I feel like it was too lavish and spending crores on rings, jewellery and dresses should have been avoided, especially when crores of farmers and poor people are suffering in our country. Now, two receptions are said to be taking place in India, where some more crores would be wasted. God save the poor.

New adventure

We are very eager and excited to visit the Dubai Safari, especially my three-year-old son, who is extremely fascinated by animals (“Two weeks of free entry to Dubai Safari”, Gulf News, December 13). I am definitely hoping that it is better than the Bangkok Safari World we visited. Dubai does everything better than the rest of the world so we are looking forward to many enjoyable excursions.

I love it! It’s free!

I am really looking forward to the Dubai Safari. I have heard so much about it. I have two small children and they love animals. They know how to identify them and are learning to spell. I think this is going to be such a nice place to spend time with friends and family. The government always does things to the best of their ability, and I am sure this new place will not disappoint. I am also greatful that it is going to be free for the first few days. Congratulations to the Dubai government for creating another dream project.
