Why was Eid date mentioned incorrectly?

I am a reader of Gulf News and was hooked to it on Sunday, September 13, to know about moon sighting for Eid. Then came the report stating Eid Al Adha was on September 23 (“First day of Eid Al Adha declared,” Gulf News, September 13)! To my surprise, I was later told Eid was actually on September 24. I haven’t seen any apology from the newspaper on publishing this incorrect information. I would like to know what went wrong. Upon realising Eid was actually on the 24, it felt like Gulf News had already typed up this article, kept the matter well in advance and just published it without any confirmation. Please do take this matter as a serious issue and ensure it doesn’t happen in the future.
