Why just gloom and doom?

I have been an ardent reader of Gulf News for three years now (“Bed time ‘love’ story separates newlyweds”, Gulf News, December 14). The editors are good at their job, however, the news that’s published about India is so appalling! Do you really think such news deserves attention in a country outside India? What kind of image does this create about India as a country that has several advancements happening in the fields of science, technology, education and so on?

Stories about wives murdering husbands, rape, murder, bullying because of religion... seriously? Is India just about these events? I am appalled. Please do not make a mockery of journalism, and of India, by reporting such absurd, unnecessary articles. Especially on the front page! The world has enough malice and hatred, so try to spread some positivity, some reassurance that the world is still a good place, with beautiful people and it’s not just all about criminals, hatred and revenge!

Thank you for your feedback and for reading Gulf News regularly. At Gulf News, we try to report incidents from around the world, including India, without bias and as they happen on the ground. It, therefore, means that sometimes some news will be uncomfortable to some readers. The article about the bed time ‘love story’ separating newlyweds was not the most important story of the day. But it definitely made one think about what goes through the minds of people. It was an unusual story with an unusual ending, which was why we chose to run it.
